Hardy-Littlewood varieties and semisimple groups

چکیده
We are interested in counting integer and rational points in affine algebraic varieties, also under congruence conditions. We introduce the notions of a strongly Hardy-Littlewood variety and a relatively Hardy-Littlewood variety, in terms of counting rational points satisfying congruence conditions. The definition of a strongly Hardy-Littlewood variety is given in such a way that varieties for which the Hardy-Littlewood circle method is applicable are strongly Hardy-Littlewood. We prove that certain affine homogeneous spaces of semisimple groups are strongly Hardy-Littlewood varieties. Moreover, we prove that many homogeneous spaces are relatively Hardy-Littlewood, but not strongly HardyLittlewood. This yields a new class of varieties for with the asymptotic density of integer points can be computed in terms of a product of local densities.

Density of Integer Points on Affine Homogeneous Varieties
A basic problem of diophantine analysis is to investigate the asymptotics as T of (1.2) N(T, V)= {m V(Z): Ilmll T} where we denote by V(A), for any ring A, the set of A-points of V. Hence I1" is some Euclidean norm on R". The only general method available for such problems is the Hardy-Littlewood circle method, which however has certain limitations, requiring roughly that the codimension of V i...

The classification of spherical varieties is already known for semisimple groups of types A and D. Adding type E, we complete the classification for all semisimple groups with a simply laced Dynkin diagram.

A theorem of Hardy states that, if f is a function on R such that |f(x)| ≤ C e−α|x|2 for all x in R and |f̂(ξ)| ≤ C e−β|ξ|2 for all ξ in R, where α > 0, β > 0, and αβ > 1/4, then f = 0. Sitaram and Sundari generalised this theorem to semisimple groups with one conjugacy class of Cartan subgroups and to the K-invariant case for general semisimple groups. We extend the theorem to all semisimple gr...

Differential forms are interesting and important generalizations of real functions and distributions. Many interesting results and applications of differential forms have recently been found in some fields. As an important tool the Hardy-Littlewood inequality have been playing critical roles in many mathematics, including potential analysis, partial differential equations and the theory of elas...
متن کاملHardy-littlewood System and Representations of Integers by an Invariant Polynomial
Let f be an integral homogeneous polynomial of degree d, and let Vm = {X : f(X) = m} be the level set for each m ∈ N. For a compact subset Ω in V1(R), set Nm(f, Ω) = #Vm(Z) ∩ mΩ. We define the notion of Hardy-Littlewood system for the sequence {Vm}, according as the asymptotic of Nm(f, Ω) as m → ∞ coincides with the one predicted by Hardy-Littlewood circle method. Using a recent work of Eskin a...
